Your First Visit to St. Peter’s
Currently, with restrictions due to the pandemic, our church is closed to visitors. Our worship services continue on our Youtube channel - St. Peter's United Church, Sudbury Youtube - and we continue our committee meetings on Zoom and our outreach activities whenever possible. See our weekly This Week On The Rock newsletter (posted under "About Us", for current activities and remote events.
When possible, we will be back in the church, with access as described below.
Our church is located at the top of the hill on York Street in Sudbury’s south end, between Paris and Regent Streets. Parking is in the lower (west) parking lot, although a number of spaces are available on the east side of the church (accessible by a ramp running behind the church from the lower lot), for those with accessibility issues. For services, most people walk on the York Street sidewalk from the lower lot to our main entrance on the northeast corner of the church building. Alternatively you could use the lower parking lot west entrance to the church and walk through the Heritage Hall to the elevator or main stairway which lead to the sanctuary entrance. Our church nursery is located on the lower level near the west entry door and rear stairway. The Heritage Hall is used for our Spirit Quest children’s program which meets during the service time, but all of us are together for the first part of each church service, with the children leaving about 15 minutes later.
We are a friendly group with greeters at our main entrance and ushers who are happy to meet you and answer any questions. There is a cloak room near the main entry doors. Please sit anywhere in the sanctuary - there may be a reserved area for some services, but these seats are clearly marked. The services are informal with music from our choirs or other musicians, a children’s time Up Front, greeting each other with the Peace of Christ and singing hymns new and old which complement the themes of the services. A church bulletin (available on request in a large print format) gives service information and congregational responses along with scheduled activities and announcements.
Many of our members have name tags to add a personal touch and will be happy to visit with you before the service or afterwards during our Fellowship time in the Fellowship Hall behind the sanctuary. There are envelopes for you to fill out if you are interested in further information or contacts.
We look forward to seeing you, when this is possible.
